From one termite queen → severe house-wide damage in 3-5 years

A single queen can lay up to 1,000 eggs per day, leading to a massive colony of up to several million termites that continuously feed on cellulose.

Termite Queen

⚠️ Formosan Termites

6–18 months to noticeable signs. Massive colonies (millions). Complex carton nests inside walls. Fastest destruction.

🐜 Other Subterranean

2–4 years to visible mud tubes & hollow wood. Requires moisture & ground contact.

🪵 Drywood Termites

3–5+ years to structural damage. First sign = tiny pellets (frass) near windows/furniture.

📈 Catastrophic Stage

All species: once visible, damage may already be severe. Immediate action required.

🚨 Singapore Warning: Formosan termites are extremely aggressive. You may see signs in as little as 6 months. Do not wait. If you see mud tubes inside your home (not just from soil), act immediately.

🔎 Early Warning Signs – inspect dark, moist areas, wooden structures, perimeter:

  • Mud tubes on walls and joists 🏠 Mud tubes on walls/joists
  • Hollow-sounding wood on door frames 🔊 Hollow-sounding wood (skirting, door frames)
  • Tiny six-sided pellets termite frass 🪲 Tiny six-sided pellets (frass) near sills
  • Discarded termite wings 🪽 Discarded wings of similar size

"I see small piles of wood-colored pellets, but no mud tubes." – Most likely drywood termites or wood boring beetles. Activity limited to furniture, window frame, or door.

Best for spot treatment: Inject termite foam or oil directly into small exit holes.

Recommended product: EMIT Termite Aerosol Foam (EM-2612) or ENTA TERMIWOOD OIL (EM-110).

"I found mud tubes on my wall, but damage seems minor." – Colony foraging from outside. Act now.

💡 Pro tip: Most likely a Subterranean termite infestation. Scrap off the top portion of the mud tube and check for active termites. Use Termite bait or Termite powder (puffed into mud tubes) + monitor activity.

Suggested: Termite powder EM-201 – dust inside mud tunnels for colony elimination.

"Termites in multiple rooms, roof truss, or floor panels." – Full-scale protocol requiring professional help or intensive DIY.

✔️ Follow the 8‑step elimination plan below and consider professional assessment. Safety first: consult a termite PCO specialist if damage is widespread.

Installing new furniture or timber? Spread a fine layer of Enta Termite Powder (EM-192) before installation. Greatly reduces chances of infestation. Or spray ENTA TERMIWOOD OIL (EM-110) on back panels of furniture.

Also keep wooden structures dry & fix moisture issues from the start.

"Termites came back after a previous treatment" – New colony or missed nesting site. Re-treat using powder in new mud tunnels, or apply residual barrier powder around perimeter.

Remember: new colonies can take over after old one dies if conditions remain favorable.

🧹 8‑Step Elimination Protocol (Drywood & Subterranean)

  1. Do NOT disturb immediately – removing wood may startle them and cause colony to split.
  2. Fix moisture sources – repair leaking pipes, aircon drainage, poor ventilation. Termites need moisture.
  3. Identify termite type – mud tubes = Subterranean, pellets = Drywood.
  4. Treat active tunnels (Subterranean) – scrape open small part of mud tube, puff Termite powder EM-201 inside, seal lightly with tape/paper or use Emit Blue Trace Termite Bait.
  5. Inject foam/oil (Drywood) – use EMIT Termite Aerosol Foam (EM-2188) or ENTA TERMIWOOD OIL (EM-110) directly into galleries.
  6. Dust potential harborage areas – sprinkle Enta Termite Powder (EM-192) around baseboards, attic edges, under cabinets.
  7. Replace severely damaged wood – termite-damaged wood cannot be repaired; replace after colony is dead.
  8. Monitor monthly – re-check mud tubes, powder residue, trap stations; re-treat if new activity appears.

⚠️ 3 points to note — be realistic:

  • Wooden panels damaged by termites cannot be repaired and need replacement.
  • Often a termite problem is accompanied by leaking pipe system (aircon, water). Solve moisture root cause first.
  • Why do I see termites again? A new colony may take over after the old one dies.

⭐ Best value: EMIT Termite Aerosol Foam (EM-2612) – the queen killer.

Termite powder EM-201 – affordable, puff into mud tunnels. Workers carry dust back to nest, killing the queen and entire colony.
ENTA TERMIWOOD OIL (EM-110) – soaks into wood, kills on contact, repels for weeks.
